LVHN–EMS Pocono Celebrates Two Years Proudly Serving the Region

In January 2022, the longstanding West End Community Ambulance Association (WECAA), a community staple in the West End of Monroe County, officially merged with American Patient Transport Systems – Hazleton and MedEvac Critical Care ground transport to form Lehigh Valley Health Network–Emergency Medical Services (LVHN–EMS).

In the two years since the acquisition, WECAA, now known as LVHN–EMS Pocono, has grown substantially. Comprised of more than 40 dedicated emergency responders, LVHN–EMS Pocono offers basic and advanced life support services. It handles 4,000-5,000 calls a year throughout Chestnuthill, Polk, Eldred, Ross, Hamilton and Tunkhannock townships.

“Our staffing has improved greatly since joining the network, which is thanks to our collaboration with the network and Emergency Medical Services.” - Operation Manager Jason Knight, NRP

In addition to serving these regions, LVHN–EMS Pocono upholds WECAA’s longstanding commitment of providing resources to the local community. It offers CPR and Stop the Bleed training, as well as standby services for various Pocono Chamber of Commerce events, the West End Fair and Pocono Raceway, to name a few.

“We have come a long way in the last two years. We have expanded our service to three 911 advanced life support ambulances, which are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We also have an additional 11 a.m.-11 p.m. ambulance to help serve the Pocono region more efficiently,” says Operation Manager Jason Knight, NRP. “Our staffing has improved greatly since joining the network, which is thanks to our collaboration with the network and Emergency Medical Services.”

LVHN–EMS Pocono looks forward to continuing to enhance operations and services to provide the best and most efficient care possible to the region.
