Pocono Health Foundation to Award Over $40,000 in Community Grants and Scholarships
On Thursday, June 17, 2010, the Pocono Health Foundation (PHF) will award over $40,000 to nineteen different community organizations and students. The presentation of these awards will be part of PHF’s eighteenth annual grant reception, which is scheduled to begin at 4:30 pm inside the Stroud and Brodhead Conference Rooms at Pocono Medical Center.
The award recipients will include eleven Monroe County community organizations that provide basic needs and promote health and wellness for local residents. These organizations will be honored through the generosity of the Dr. Alberta Finch Children’s Health Endowment Fund and the Dr. Claus G. Jordan Endowment Fund. Three distinguished nursing students from northeastern Pennsylvania nursing schools will receive scholarships to advance their education and profession as a result of the R. Dale Hughes Nursing Scholarship Endowment, Jennie Cramer Nursing Scholarship, and Robert A. Gordon Memorial Nursing Scholarship. In addition, one distinguished Monroe County high school senior will receive a scholarship to pursue their education in a healthcare-related field through the Dr. Elmo Lilli Memorial Healthcare Scholarship.
Steve Cunningham, Vice President of Public Relations/Marketing & Chief Development Officer of Pocono Health System/Pocono Medical Center will recognize all of the award recipients at the reception. "I look to forward to the opportunity to personally congratulate all of the award recipients and thank the students and community organizations for their compassion and desire to improve the quality of life in our community."
