Nche Zama, MD, PhD Nche Zama, MD, PhD Nche Zama, MD, PhD, is the Medical Director of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at the ESSA Heart and Vascular Institute of Pocono Medical Center.

Dr. Zama earned a PhD in chemistry from Cleveland State University-Cleveland Clinic Foundation and his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati. He completed a residency in general surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and was senior resident in pediatric-cardiac surgery at Harvard Medical School, Boston Children's Hospital. Dr. Zama received fellowship training in cardiothoracic surgery at Harvard Medical School, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and is Board-certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgeons and the American Board of Surgery. In addition, Dr. Zama performs pediatric cardiovascular surgery in his missionary work in Asia, Africa and South America.
