In 2004, the Pocono Medical Center (PMC) entered into a participation agreement with the Jefferson Cancer Network to enhance the delivery of oncology services through the Dale and Frances Hughes Cancer Center. The affiliation provides the oncology specialists at the Hughes Cancer Center access to the Jefferson Institutional Review Board for research oversight with automated electronic submission capabilities; access to an increased number of national, clinical radiation and medical oncology protocols and trials; collaboration with other Jefferson Network Cancer Centers; excellent educational programs; conferences; and consultation opportunities. As a member of the Jefferson Cancer Network, The Hughes Cancer Center is privy to the latest proven treatment protocols, including IGRT, as well as specialized educational programs and conferences for the oncology specialists at the Hughes Cancer Center.
