Prevention & Screening

Whether or not your family has a history of cancer, it is important to understand that there are steps that you can take to help reduce your risk of getting cancer. The information on our Web site has been provided to help educate you about the prevalence of some of the most common cancers in the United States, what the risk factors are for these cancers, and when screenings are recommended for those at risk.

During the year, the Hughes Cancer Center offers a host of free cancer screenings throughout our area. For more information, please visit our online To Your Health Calendar or our Wellness Institute site.

If you think you might be at risk for cancer and that a screening might be appropriate for you, please contact your family physician to make an appointment to arrange for the necessary tests. If you do not have a family physician or would like to speak to a Hughes Cancer Center physician, please contact the Center at 570-476-3488.
